WatchDogs Review PS4:
Hey Guys & Gals,
Finally here it is the WatchDogs Review! Is the game as good as the hype it had?
You are Aiden Pearce, a vigilante hacker who travels the streets of Chicago hacking your way through people’s phones, cars, city cameras & security systems all with the simple touch of a fingertip on your mobile device.
Story wise this game has movie credentials as the voice acting is spot on, the story keeps you interested & wondering what will happen next while seeing Aiden Pearce go through an emotional roller-coaster. This new type of hacking gameplay while still being able to drive, go on diverse side missions, shooting up gangs & trying to put an end to crime the way you see fit while you have the options to choose how you’re going to go through a mission whether it’s gun’s blazing or silent & deadly.
On to the gameplay itself. Since this game has driving, shooting & walking I will make this a 3 part section.
Driving:
Although many people have claimed & said that the driving mechanics are horrible, it all depends on which vehicle you use as once you unlock the vehicle you will be able to see the rating on the car which are indicated in 4 groups:
Top Speed
Acceleration
Durability
Handling
Once you find out which vehicle is suited to your driving methods you will enjoy driving through the streets of Chicago.
Shooting:
The shooting mechanics for me personally are very well made for a joystick. The learning curve is a bit high as it took me a few times aiming to get used to the shooting mechanics. And the ability to make the game in slow motion for a few seconds really does help you in killing a lot of npcs quickly.
Walking:
While walking you are constantly looking at your mobile phone and ID profiling people to steal their cash, listen in on what they are saying or reading their inbox. You may also hack into a city or indoor camera to get a good idea of who’s doing what while hacking into a security system to do a side or main mission requirement.
That being said the game does have a few bad pointers.
For starters there aren’t a lot of waypoints so you will be driving for nearly 60% of the game to get from point A to point B (which is usually the other side of this huge map)
The side missions tend to be really repetitive especially the driving side missions (which is usually getting from point A to point B while avoiding the cops) although I have to say I found the gang hide out side missions to be quite fun but nearly identical to one another.
Graphics were a huge let down for me as the game was apparently made for a PS3 so the game didn’t tap into the PS4 graphical engine power. Putting it into a pc way it’s more of a low to medium graphic setting (with the occasional high settings for the coat). The vehicle designs are quite nice but the damage of the vehicles is extremely unrealistic. Yes there are the occasional moments where you see the sun going through a tree or a scenery here & there which is beautiful but Ubisoft really needed to increase the graphics (seeing as other PS4 titles had me mind blown with the PS4 capability I was really let down on this)
Final Score Rating:
Graphics – 6/10
Gameplay – 6.5/10
Sound & Music - 10/10
Player Experience – 6.5/10
Overall Game Completion – 24+ hrs (includes some side missions + whole main game)
Total Game Score: 7/10
Final Verdict:
This game tried way too hard to be a GTA replica with the addition of hacking but sadly it was so over hyped that to me personally felt like it still needed a few more weeks as to me it felt like a game that has so much potential but was rushed to be released to the public. This game would have been a much bigger success if it was a movie in my opinion.
