Murdered: Soul Suspect Review:
Hey there guys and gals,
So today I shall be reviewing Murdered Soul Suspect for the PS4. You step into the shoes of Ronan O’Connor, a detective in the city of Salem (witch city), who is at present investigating a serial killer known as the “Bell Killer”. One night you are murdered by this same serial killer you are investigating, and end up as a ghost who cannot move on and rest in peace until the identity of your killer comes to light.
The game, especially the plot is quite amazing. I was hooked to this game from start to finish and I couldn’t put my controller down for one second. The story is well scripted by Square Enix and is of A+ Quality. I loved this game and everything to do with it.
On to the gameplay. This game is very well designed and the concept was done perfectly. Graphic wise it looks polished and beautiful. The atmosphere is so well made that you really do feel as though you have crossed over to the spirit world. The camera angle is perfect and even the camera’s movement is excellent. It’s very responsive and expertly done. Even the fact that since you crossed over you have spiritual powers like possession, teleporting, walking through walls etc. And the game is really rewarding in itself. Whilst try not to spoil anything, if you are a fan of ghost stories I would suggest that you take special note of the collectibles.
That being said the game does suffer from a bit of bugs and weird animations. For example, the animations do tend to have offline lip syncing and the AI movements (especially from ghosts) are for some reason repetitive and weird. Not to mention that some of them only have one or two things to say and they keep on repeating the same thing over and over without even having the option to skip what he or she is saying.
One thing I wish they did was increase the speed your character runs as since you are traveling a lot in the game from point A to point B it tends to end up being a huge time consumer; and the fact that there is no fast travel (although you won’t mind this much as like I previously stated you will be hooked by the things you will see while you running around the streets of Salem) is a bit of a let down.
Final Score Rating:
Graphics – 8/10
Gameplay – 8/10
Sound & Music - 10/10
Player Experience – 8/10
Overall Game Completion – 10 hrs
Total Game Score: 8.5/10
Final Verdict:
If you are a fan of ghost stories like me and want to get a glimpse of what ghosts see and feel than I suggest you go and buy this game. It is definitely not to be missed! Well done Square Enix for this beautiful game.
