Destiny First look Alpha..
PS4
Let me start off by telling you how much hype has been built up around this game in the last 3 years...
Its a Bungie game so ofc expect nothing less than legendary ..
What i've been hearing the last 3 years about Desitny is:
Its grand scale, lush environments, Multiplayer coop aspect, Constantly immersive and huge story line which is true..
Also its open world status which i will get into soon, Weapon and gear customization, Pick up play and no put down appeal, just to name a few things...
For an Alpha i must say i was blown away .. firstly we were capped at lvl 8 which isn't at all bad considering it was just a brief taster which i can say was pretty damn good for a nowhere near shell engine only glitches i found were when certain mobs we kill would stay spawned oblivious of the fact they have no health they just stood there blatantly with a look on their face of ok i dead move along lol.. other than that nothing majorly bad about the alpha..
So Gear... oh the gear there was on alpha a plethora of things to attian work rep for and earn in ur missions or exploration... and it was just enough to get that have to keep going feeling welling inside of you... this aspect i loved.. as the titles sister slogan is greatness awaits and become a legend.. i have to agree on this...
The areas where u explore or do a fireteam mission to (strikes) are all intertwined .. i walked the whole of old Russia and still didn't see the whole continent.. its huge ... at one point i noticed my exploring actually took me thru in the strike mission area so i could solo it alone on exploration basis which rewarded me with the same fights but toned down for single player scenarios .. which i got a very good drop from.. Its cross entangled u can wander into strike zones at your free will tho i still assume the actual strike bosses and areas are locked off to streamline gameplay which is a plus ...
The sheer scale you have to explore on your speeder is inedible still takes a whole 20-30 mins to get across the map on that... u r only limited by your abilities to fight the mobs at which point u will find u r seriously overpowered due to thier high lvl... 10/10 for this its a perfect system u can with extreme skill and care dispatch said mobs but it will take a long time..
but is well worth the feeling of accomplishment as it does feel truly epic and titanic you managed to take down said overpowered foe.
Now ammo drops gear and items are all hard coded to your account.. which means no ninja of gear ... all drops u see are unique and they are yours which also empowers the better ones self aim of the game say u get a lvl 8 item which is nice and its a good drop but the guys who raid and get lvl 20 drops will just wow you with the lvl of detail and looks of their unique account bound gear which i may add can be as it seems shared across characters on same account with use of the vault system i didn't try it i was having too much fun on my hunter with the gunslinger subclass this will be explained in a bit.. in other words every drop you see in game is yours alone only u can see them and they are yours.. so happy hunting..
Now each class as far as i could see has a subclass like hunters start off with gunslinger... but can spec off to Blade dancer.. which is what i'm aiming for .. its yet to be revealed on how this will affect the players choices of skill sets.. but to me looks good..Very enjoyable and simple enough.
Gear can be modded and upgraded on the fly via a synergy like system the more u use something the more it becomes upgradeable.. which can make for some unique specs and builds..
Multiplayer is decent even tho only comprised of domination style maps on 2 maps .. but were options in alpha to show 5-6 different game types..
Ships which are essential for planetary travel i noticed have classes too ... maybe in relation to later DLC interplanetary .. interstellar etc could be you are capped at range via ship type??
Teaming ability was reduced to a lobby system in alpha but beta could see the drop in drop out system as we saw in its first reveal vids..
Voice actors to name one is Peter Dinklage from game of thrones fame who plays the ghost companion which is like a little drone bot among other actors from Fringe Series as well to name but two.. so yes legendary in every aspect so far as a Alpha..
The mission system is amazing and streamlined from what i saw.. its also attained from exploration and finding beacons which somehow award you a random faction mission upon accepting which is cool it really mixes it up and keeps it interesting.. also rep can be attained by collecting materials and trading it in at quartermasters .. thumbs up guys...also the supposed crafting system was not in the alpha... i heard it was gonna be there in place for beta as a last touch .. still yet to be confirmed tho..
The credit you earn in game is split between your accounts characters which means awesomeness in being able to jump onto a secondary char you have created and using your hard earned credits.
The ingram system random drops of a certain type but unknown have to be identified at the tower gives it a slight Diablo feel to it so u can get a epic and not know it till mission end for wow factor.
All in all Alpha was needless to say... Legend .. exactly what Bungie aimed for and so far they are pulling it off.
All i can say if this is just a taste of what is to come... roll on my beta guys I am ready ...A huge.... great big...
10/10
Bungie you have surpassed all expectations on the alpha and i must say i cant wait to own this game .. i actually pulled a 24 hr stint over the alpha weekend and was amazed ..this games capacity to be a Legend is there from the get go..
Well done...
allmost flawless score denoted by the fact of that one mob that was glitched who flipped me off after emptying a whole chain of heavy machine gun rounds into him lol was a lol moment indeed... just joking ... poeple this title has been under scrutiny for so long... we ps owners are getting man love in an amazing amount here ... love Bungie back.. Buy this game you wont be sorry .
